Same camera-AI idea, different assistant

Both of these are camera-first AI glasses, so the real decision is which assistant lives on your face. The Acer GI0 was unveiled at Computex 2026 around Google Gemini — voice help, live translation, captions, and image recognition, per the announcement — with onboard storage the announcement puts at 32GB. The Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) runs Meta AI, and it is the shipping product of the two: on sale since September 23, 2026 with a 12 MP camera, 3K video, a six-microphone array, and up to 9 hours of everyday use.

If you want Google's assistant rather than Meta's, the GI0 is the first big-brand camera glasses built on that preference — that is its entire pitch, and it is a real one. Everything else about it is announced rather than shipped, and this page writes it that way: the camera, the storage, and the launch window are Acer's statements, not yet a product anyone has bought.

Shipping today vs the Q4 window

The Gen 3 can be on your face this week, in three styles, with single-vision, progressive, and Transitions prescription lenses across the family's -12.00 to +6.00 range. The GI0 is aimed at the US and Europe in the fourth quarter of 2026, and Acer's own product page was still unreachable when we checked — which is why the GI0's table stays empty and its figures live in cited answers instead. Announced hardware moves: prices shift, windows slip, and a 12 MP line item is only as real as the unit that ships.

Which should you buy?

Buy the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) if you are choosing today — it is the only one of the two that exists to buy, and its camera line is in its third generation. Wait for the Acer GI0 only if Gemini over Meta AI is the point for you and your purchase can sit out the Q4 window; if it ships as announced, it will be the cheaper way into camera AI glasses with Google's assistant, and if it slips, the Gen 3 will still be there.
