Privacy Policy

AR Compare (“we”, “us”) is an independent comparison site for AR and smart glasses, available at arcompare.com. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

You can browse this site without creating an account, and we never ask for your name, email address, or payment details. The information we collect is limited to:

  • Usage analytics. We record which pages are viewed, which links and buttons are clicked, how far pages are scrolled, the type of device and browser used, the approximate region derived from your IP address, and the site that referred you here.
  • Session replays. For a small sample of visits (currently about 1 in 10), our analytics tool reconstructs how the page was used — scrolling, tapping, and navigation. Replays do not capture anything you type, because this site has no forms or text inputs.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (IP address, requested URL, timestamp) for security and reliability.

Cookies and local storage

We use a small number of first-party cookies and browser local-storage entries so our analytics can tell repeat visits apart from new ones. These identifiers are random — they are not linked to your name or any account, because we don’t have either. We do not run third-party advertising networks, and we do not use cross-site tracking cookies.

Affiliate links

Product and comparison pages contain affiliate links, mainly to Amazon. If you click one, the retailer’s own site may set its own cookies to attribute a purchase to us. We then receive aggregate commission reports — we never see who you are or what you bought at a personal level. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details. As an Amazon Associate, AR Compare earns from qualifying purchases.

How we use this information

We use analytics to understand which comparisons and guides are useful, to find and fix broken or confusing pages, and to filter out automated bot traffic. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to build individual profiles.

Who processes it

We use PostHog (PostHog, Inc.) for analytics and Vercel (Vercel, Inc.) for hosting. Both process data on our behalf on servers located in the United States. If you visit from outside the United States, your information is transferred there for processing.

Retention

Analytics data is kept only as long as it is useful for understanding site performance, and server logs are kept for the short periods our hosting provider uses for security. We periodically delete data that is no longer needed.

Your choices and rights

You can block or clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings, or use a content-blocking extension — the site works fine either way. Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, the UK, or California), you may have legal rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because we hold no accounts or contact details, the data we could link to you is minimal.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be noted here.
