Buy the newer frame if the display is the point, if you are outdoors enough for the sealing and the 1,200-nit brightness — bright enough to stay readable in daylight — to matter, or if the companion ring interests you — the maker states its ring pairs only with the second generation. Hunt the older one only if the discount is real and the mission is modest. Either way the decision is unusually clean for this catalog: same philosophy, same maker, one direction of travel.
