Mad Gaze Glow Plus

The Mad Gaze Glow Plus was notable for packing 6DoF SLAM tracking and hand gesture control into a consumer-grade form factor at a time when such features were largely confined to enterprise headsets like HoloLens. The 53-degree field of view was competitive for its era, and the 1920x1080 per-eye resolution delivered a clear 118-inch virtual screen from dual Micro-OLED panels. Voice commands rounded out an input stack that, on paper, would still read as ambitious today.

However, at 92g it was heavier than modern display glasses, and the gesture recognition and SLAM tracking were ahead of their time but limited by the processing power of connected phones. The product supported Android app ecosystems through the companion phone connection, enabling AR gaming and productivity overlays, and its USB-C connection (with an HDMI adapter route) covered consoles and computers as well. The record lists it at a $521 price with no built-in diopter adjustment or confirmed prescription path — the maker’s site is no longer reachable to verify the Kickstarter-era prescription frame claim.

As a Hong Kong startup product, support and availability were inconsistent, and the Glow Plus is now discontinued as Mad Gaze pivoted toward enterprise AR solutions. It remains a footnote worth knowing: proof that consumer-priced spatial tracking was attempted years before the current generation of AR glasses made it mainstream.
