Confirmed at Google I/O 2026 and detailed at Galaxy Unpacked: screenless Android XR audio glasses built with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, running Gemini for live translation, navigation, message summaries, and camera capture · 5 pros & 5 cons

Samsung's intelligent eyewear -- unveiled at Galaxy Unpacked in London on July 22, 2026 -- is the company's first Android XR eyewear, developed with Google and the eyewear houses Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. Samsung branded the product only as 'intelligent eyewear' on stage; the widely reported 'Galaxy Glasses' name is not an official Samsung designation. First shown at Google I/O 2026 as two styles -- audio glasses without a screen, and a later display model -- the launch pair is the screenless audio glasses: they run Gemini on Android XR for real-time translation, turn-by-turn navigation, message summaries, and camera capture, activated by 'Hey Google' or a frame tap, and pair with both Android and iOS phones. Samsung confirmed a Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platform, phone-tethered operation, up to 9 hours of battery with a charging case good for about seven additional charges, a built-in camera paired with an outward privacy LED, and open-ear speakers. Samsung did not announce a price -- positioning it as premium -- and gave only a 'fall 2026, select markets' window with no on-sale date, so this page carries no price and no firm release date. A second, display-equipped pair -- the display glasses, reported to carry the codename Haean -- is reported to follow in 2027 to take on Meta's Ray-Ban Display tier, though Samsung has not confirmed it. Weight, the camera sensor, and video specifications remain reporting rather than Samsung-published spec.

Samsung’s entry into the smart glasses market runs through Google’s Android XR platform and the eyewear houses Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. Unveiled at Galaxy Unpacked in London on July 22, 2026, the launch product is Samsung’s first Android XR eyewear — branded on stage only as ‘intelligent eyewear’ (the widely reported ‘Galaxy Glasses’ name is not an official Samsung designation). First shown at Google I/O 2026 as two styles — audio glasses without a screen, and a later display model — the launch pair is the screenless audio glasses, positioned squarely against Meta’s Ray-Ban line.

The confirmed hardware record: a Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platform, phone-tethered operation that pairs with both Android and iOS phones (not locked to Samsung Galaxy devices), up to 9 hours of battery with a charging case good for about seven additional charges, a built-in camera paired with an outward privacy LED, and open-ear speakers. Running Gemini on Android XR, the glasses handle real-time translation, turn-by-turn navigation, message summaries, and camera capture, activated by ‘Hey Google’ or a frame tap. The Gentle Monster collaboration carries the design brief: fashion-forward frames that blend into everyday wear rather than reading as a gadget.

What Samsung has not published matters just as much. There is no announced price — Samsung positioned the eyewear as premium, and pre-launch price reporting remains rumor — and the launch window is only ‘fall 2026, select markets’ with no on-sale date. Weight, the camera sensor, and video specifications likewise remain reporting rather than Samsung-published spec. A second, display-equipped pair (reported codename Haean) is reported to follow in 2027 to take on Meta’s display tier, though Samsung has not confirmed it. Until an on-sale date lands, this page carries no price and no firm release date.

Pairs with both Android and iOS phones, not locked to Samsung Galaxy devices
Gentle Monster and Warby Parker partnerships bring fashion-eyewear design and retail reach -- the most credible near-term challenger to Ray-Ban Meta
